A personal look at Dr. Pete

I’m the oldest of four children raised by my parents in St. Petersburg, Florida. Although I love Florida, I was excited go “up north” and to “the big city” for college.  It wasn’t until many years later that I realized St. Louis wasn’t really “up north and wasn’t the big city.

Nevertheless, I loved it! I got to see a change of seasons that doesn’t happen in Florida.  This was my first exposure to snow, sledding and “real winter.”  I enjoyed St. Louis so much that I stayed for medical school too, becoming a Cardinals baseball fan in the process and attending the World Series in 1982.  (Cardinals over the Brewers in seven games) I still have medical school and college friends in St. Louis and try to get back every couple of years.

Both of my brothers went to Davidson College and my sister attended Lenoir Rhyne College in North Carolina.  One of my brothers also attended Duke Medical School and went on to be a plastic surgeon in Ponte Vedre Beach, FL.  The other is a consultant with Deloitte.  My sister became a sign language interpreter.

I married Sharon, a former Navy nurse, in 1988 in San Diego where we were stationed for seven years.  Like any couple, we have had our issues but have worked to make our relationship strong.  We are both grateful for out two wonderful children, Allison and Kevin.

Currently we live in Melbourne, Florida and I love it!  My hobbies include gardening, boating, fishing and generally enjoying the outdoors.  I attend Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic, Florida.

My work and life have now merged. My mission is to help others by communicating all that I’ve learned in life — from medial practice, from leading an insurance company, from being a patient myself, and from working through my own personal issues.  I hope to be a guide, supporter and encourager to those who can learn from me.

Of course I am still learning from others as well! I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. Maybe we can learn something from each other or we can just connect.

Sincerely,

Dr. Pete
