Work To Keep Your Mind Open

Today’s edition of my local newspaper, Florida Today, featured a profile of Janet Harazda who specializes in Hoshino Therapy.

Harazda

Now I don’t know too much about this type of acupressure/massage, and I’m not writing about that practice.

The part of the profile that interested me was that Janet is a nurse who shifted her career into this non-traditional area (for western healthcare providers) after personally experiencing its benefits.

When asked what is the most difficult part of her interaction with clients she replied, “When they think their problems are too serious and can’t be helped in a natural way. Some people are just so tied up in their habitual way of living that they don’t want to change.”

Exactly right,” I thought.

I believe this closed-mindedness could be the single greatest problem preventing most people from becoming healthy.  Their minds are just not open to new ideas.  They’re not teachable.

Hey, I’m not throwing stones.  I’ve been there myself.  It wasn’t a totally smooth transition for me either from traditional western medical specialist to integrative wellness evangelist, but I’m glad I made it.

That’s why I write so much about opening your mind in my book, More Health Less Care.  An open mind is the beginning of your journey to wellbeing.

Yes, it can be difficult.  Most people have to really work at being receptive to new ways of thinking.  I know I do, but it can be done.  So open your mind and begin to grow!  You can do it!
